As we have already said in this blog’s previous entry, there are also many players who feel happy with the possibility of being able to change their nicknames at the online poker rooms.
Those players base their opinion on the fact that nowadays it is too easy to have access to all the statistics and hands history of all the players, and that allows their rivals to have too much information, which in certain way spoils the poker essence.
Therefore, as we can see, there are opinions for all tastes and it seem that no one seems to agree on that matter, and that is why, so far, allowing players to change or not to change their nicknames will depend only on each online poker room rules.

TO CHANGE OR NOT TO CHANGE PLAYERS NICKNAMES
During the last days there has been a controversy regarding the advantages and disadvantages of allowing players to change their nicknames at the online poker rooms.
This debate was propitiated due to the fact that some online poker sites have started to allow players to change the names they use every few days.
On one hand, there are many poker players that consider that this decision will be prejudicial for them. Those players base their defence on the fact that in order to obtain good results when playing poker, knowing your rival is vital, and that is way the experts on this field recommend to gather as much information about your opponents when playing against them as possible, as that can be used when you meet then at a poker table in the future and will allow you to define your strategy accordingly.
However, if players are allowed to keep changing their names, that would make impossible to accumulate any relevant information, and players who decided not to change their identity would be in a clear disadvantage every time they compete at a cash table or poker tournament against opponents who had decided to change their online nicknames.
Moreover, those changes would also allow players from higher levels to play at lower ones, and their opponents could not be aware of this fact, which again puts them in a disadvantage.
On the other hand, there are also many players who think that being allowed to change their online names would be beneficial for them, but this point of view will be discussed in the following entry of this blog.
